Sure, this is mostly a photo of me, but if you look closely, you can see Michelle addressing the crowd.
You don’t have to know me well to know I am HUGE Michelle Obama fan. So, you can imagine my excitement when I heard she was going to be attending the opening of the White House farmers market yesterday.
Luckily, the WH is just a few blocks from my office, so I went over with a few people from work. The long security lines were daunting and I was worried I wouldn’t get in, but when I finally did, I was able to get a fairly good view of the FLOTUS.
It was a very rainy day, but that didn’t deter the crowds – about 300 people showed up to see her speak and buy produce.
I got really close to shaking her hand, but then she turned around, which was a major bummer. But still, I am happy as a peach to have just seen her in person. She is even more classy and elegant in real life. We may not be best friends yet, but I think it is only a matter of time.

Jay from LCV was able to get some pretty good shot of Michelle in all her glory.
I wrote a full piece about the market for LCV’s blog here, but I just want to point out that shoppers at this market who are using food stamps or WIC coupons are able to double their value. I think it is so great that they are making an effort to bring fresh food to all people at an affordable price!
On a side note, Michelle was looking very stylish. You can read about her outfit, here.
Note: I am OBSESSED with the other outfit Michelle has on in that post. The green heels with the bold print dress – fantastic.
